Over the past couple of years, the number of flea markets in Bangalore has been steadily rising. There are at least a couple every month. And are we complaining? No way! We love our shopping and it only adds to our joy when we know that what we’re buying is unique and can’t be bought at a store.

The biggest and the most popular flea market in Bangalore, the Sunday Soul Sante, drew crowds like moths to a flame! It was, as usual, a roaring success and every fun-loving Bangalorean seemed to have converged at the most unlikeliest of places in in the city, the ITPL cricket ground in Whitefield. There was something for all age groups from bright, colourful candies to orchid plants to sarees and framed art.

Apart from the usual stalls selling jewelry, accessories, clothes, shoes and home decor - there was loads of entertainment with a fashion show organised by Prasad Bidappa and live music by Lagori. Needless to say, the confectionery stalls were as tempting as they always are. We tried the red velvet cake from The Little Patisserie and it was just out of this world! But the highlight for us was the crippled man selling sketches he made with his foot, on the spot.

Barely five minutes away from the Sante, at the Inorbit mall, Masterchef Australia winner Kate Bracks interacted with her fans as she took them through the nuances of turning out scrumptious Chocolate Hazelnut and Raspberry muffins. The crowd watched in rapt attention and took the opportunity to clear their doubts when Kate took audience questions in between the demo. Dressed in a sea green saree, a first for her, Kate was at ease whisking, baking and talking simultaneously.
To many more flea markets…
Woop!
