A young blog run by a passionate team, The Fashion Co. consists of people who have come together from different walks of life to express a mutual love for fashion. The blog serves as a diary where they each share their sartorial adventures as part of the Lookbook series. Take a look at these shopaholics and you will see they are avid collectors of meaningful quotes, family photographs, Indian jewelry, high heels and lost causes.
They are big believers in trying to achieve their dreams and reaching for the stars. Yes, we know, they leave you with a warm tingle and a smile on your face on reading about them. And that smile just keeps growing when you take a look at fashion and shopping through their eyes.

Quick questions with Tripti from The Fashion Co. …

What are the craziest things you have ever purchased or had?

Well, truth be told I haven’t eaten anything crazy. I once has the option of eating kangaroo meat, but luckily enough I backed out! The craziest thing would probably be a pizza dosa. Sounds gross but it’ s actually delicious! But when it comes to fashion though, 6 years ago, there was this beautiful Maang tikka that I had to purchase for a Bharatnatyam performance. I fell in love with it and wore it every chance I got. I even wore it for an Arabian nights themed prom in school.

The other crazy things that I have purchased include accessories inspired by animals. I own a necklace with giraffe pendant and a clutch with a snake as a clasp!

What shopping mantra/tips would you like to share with others?

Most people find dressing themselves stressful as they aren’t really sure what suits them.Take the time to figure out what your style is. It is better to find a little time experimenting and getting to know what suits you, rather than blindly buying clothes just because they fall in your comfort zone. It’ll be worth the effort when you finally curate a wardrobe full of clothes that are comfortable to wear AND make you look fabulous.

Truth be told it doesn’t really matter where you shop from. We’ve been complimented for a lot of our thrifted buys, with tons of people asking us where we bought them from. What does matter though is the fit. If it doesn’t fit you or isn’t in your size, put it down and walk away.

You may think it will be worth it because it’s a great deal or because it’s on sale, but it won’t! You’ll never get down to actually getting it altered. It’s a big waste of effort and you’ll rather spend the time doing something more enjoyable.

And most importantly, have fun! Fashion isn’t meant to be serious, it’s a tool to express your personality. If you feel like wearing something, just wear it!  Don’t care about what the world thinks!

Lastly, attitude is more important than any label. If you don’t have the confidence to carry it off, even the world’s most expensive outfit won’t look good on you.
