There has been a lot of amazing dishes recommended on Wooplr this past couple of weeks. And so, not surprisingly, our featured Woople of the week is one of the top foodies from Bombay.
Ashrita has a popular food blog titled Caramel Wings where she posts recipes & reviews of restaurants. Besides food, her interests include traveling, flying, cooking and dancing. By profession, she’s a Commercial Pilot - how cool is that! So travel is very frequent, and she has no complaints as that means she gets to try out “more new dishes!”
She says,
Although I am a food blogger and I get invited to so many restaurants, I actually enjoy home fare and like to create dishes from different cuisines at home. So if I recommend something, it must actually be that good!
Here’s a selection of Ashrita’s top recommendations on Wooplr:
The Breakfast Burger from Melange, Lokhandwala, Andheri
This burger is sure to brighten up your day with the crisp fried hashbrowns over a perfectly toasted bun and the warm onion marmalade. Served with a side of salad! All that for just over a 100 bucks! The Snickers Shake is also worth a try!
Kokum and Cumin Daiquiri from Grain and Bagel, Malad, Bombay
This drink will manage to calm your senses and transport you to a happy place instantly! Also try the Bagels and Breakfast Items!
Bombay Taglioni from Pizza Metro Pizza, Bandra West, Mumbai
This superstar of a dish is worth its whopping price of 1900 bucks for two. The Taglioni is freshly made at the restaurant and cooked in a light creamy Sage sauce, and then flambeed with Cognac inside a Parmesan Wheel right at your table! So much drama, so much yum!
All Day Buffet from Seasonal Tastes, Westin Garden City, Bombay
This is by far the best buffet in the city in my honest opinion. Overlooking the Mumbai Expressway, the Seasonal Tastes Buffet is located on the 18th Floor of the Westin Mumbai Garden City, and the sheer combination of dishes and the quality is surprisingly awesome. Forget stale tasting food at local buffets and definitely try the buffet here. And no excuses, because it’s open 24x7!
Bake Box, New Delhi
This is one of the best things that happened in 2012. The good folks over at Bake Box feature a new Baker every month and you can sign up for a box of 7-8 goodies that will be home-delivered to you all for 850 bucks per month! Every month is a new treat! :)
Banoffee Pie from Mamagato, New Delhi
Mamagoto is a place to visit just on its own for the amazing and quirky decor and the great service. The food is impeccable, but the Banoffee Pie is definitely a must-try! Served in a little bowl with a Caramel Crisp, the Pie has the perfect texture and balance and will leave you mmmming throughout!
Jalebis from Jalebi Wala, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi
A visit to Delhi is incomplete without visiting the Jalebi Wala and tasting the warm giant Jalebis straight up from the counter! Crisp on the outside, gooeey on the inside, and not too sweet either, they are some of the best Jalebis I have ever had!
Bonus (not yet recommended on Wooplr!)
Peanut Butter Malt Shake / Wicked Brownie Shake from The All American Diner, New Delhi
Located inside the India Habitat Center at Lodhi Road, The All American Diner is sure to impress you with the decor alone. If not that, then the Juke Box. And of course, amazing food. The Peanut Butter Malt Shake and the Wicked Brownie Shake both are an absolute must try at the Diner!
Her Fav Shopping Spots
I love shopping by the streets because those items get worn off quickly so I can buy more new stuff! I love shopping at the Colaba Causeway, Linking Road, Sarojini Nagar in Delhi, to the busy streets of Dubai to the shoppers paradise China Town in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Her Favourite Cuisines
Indian, Italian and Chinese
Her Favourite Restaurants
I don’t really have a favorite restaurant per se, but I love the Crema Catalana and Patatas Bravas at Arola, JW Marriott, Smoke House Deli, Out Of The Blue (Peanut Butter Fondue!), Pratap Lunch Home, and good old street food!
Her Favorite Dishes
Dal Chawal and fish curry that mom makes!
